Weight Struggles by Kayla Fredericks

A total of 25.8 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes. Obesity in the United States continues to grow each year. From 1999 to 2000, among 4,115 men and women were found to be over weight. The cause of this is that people are eating more calories than they are burning them in their daily activities. Another explanation of the fattening of Americans is in their lifestyle and in what they are eating. People think they are less active than they once were. People would rather be sitting at home watching their brand new flat screens and playing their video games than going on a run or playing sports. People are also eating more highly processed foods and more McDonalds than they once were. The US has become lazier over the last ten years.
What people can do about their weight is increase their daily activities and watch what they eat. It’s better to eat fruit every day than to load up on Del Taco. It involves a change in life style which is why people do not usually like to lose weight. It is hard to lose and keep off weight so by having a balanced diet and changing their life style and making a continuous commitment they should be in good shape. By reducing their consuming of soda every day, they can lose up to ten pounds a year. Secondly, by taking a 30 minute walk each day can keep those calories off. Third, by finding a friend that can help you and keep you accountable is good to have around. Unless these people decide to make these decisions, there will not be enough healthy people to be working in twenty years to provide health care for the up coming generations.

    I think it is crazy that in one year over four thousand people were found to over weight. I also think it is an interesting fact that if you don’t drink soda you can lose tb pounds in a year! That’s some cool research kayla!

      Though those facts are true and that diet and exercise are important and play a huge part in weight. Alot of people are born having weight issues and its harder for them to lose weight rather than those than have gained weight through food or lack of exercise. For those people, sometimes eating healthy and and working out arent enough.

    Honestly, this is ridiculous. So many people aren’t aware that all you have to do is exercise and eat healthy. And alot of people think eating healthy means buying organic only. However, there are aton of different options like cooking things in a different manner then frying it. People today need to realize that it isn’t that hard to get in shape.

    Staying in shape and being healthy is a big thing for me. So seeing people around me who arent in the best shape makes me sad. People need to cut down on the fast foods and start living healthier.

    i enjoyed reading this. it is very true how in most cases just eating the right foods arent enough. exercise is a huge part of staying healthy!
