Global Warming by Brickelle Prochnow

Every week Mr. McKinley has an on line quiz every week, and this week it was on global warming. The video is a debate on whether or not global warming is caused by humans.  “Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century and its projected continuation”. Since the early 20th century, Earth’s mean surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C (1.4 °F), with about two-thirds of the increase occurring since 1980.  The question that most people wonder is if global warming is fact or fiction, and if fact does the media, government and other sources make it to be more extreme then not.

Before I watched this video my thoughts were indifferent on what I thought or think about global warming.  I honestly did not really know what global warming really was; I just got annoyed with the people who tried to talk to my family and me as we walk out of Trader Joes.  All I knew is that we were supposedly polluting the earth and it’s heating up the world.  Then after this video I learn more about global warming which partly informed me more about what the whole fuss on global warming was truly about. Everyone is afraid what will happen in the future if we do not stop polluting the planet, but is there is real need to?

My feelings toward global warming bounced back and forth on whether or not if it our own opinions, media and other sources of information which lead us to believe that global warming is real and caused by humans. 86% of the world’s population believes that global warming is our fault.  But why?  I think it is resources that give it to them…such as the government and media.

I think that the government and media should be less active in regards to global warming because I believe that they are putting one side of the argument out and not telling both halves such as, that global warming is caused by humans. They do this by electing non scientists in to the area needed in the government. The media portrays that global warming is the end of life but truly both the government and media should say what is necessary and not put out own opinions that may possibly be not the truth. In conclusion I think that as a nation we should decide on whether or not what we believe in regarding to global warming.

Brickelle, I think global warming is pretty crazy as well. I have come to the conclusion that global warming is not even real. People tell you all the time that ice burgs are melting, but what they don’t tell you is that there are a lot forming as well. I mean come on, I don’t think the titanic really sunk by hitting a melting ice burg.
