Boy Band Takeover by Sara Guibert

1 Dec

When Paul Revere said, “the British are coming”, it was the truth. Within the past year there has been a British-Irish takeover in America with a boy band names, “One Direction”. In the year 2010 this boy band was put together by the one and only, Simon Cowell. These 5 boys by the names of, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Harry Styles never would have expected their lives to turn upside down in a matter of seconds.

Their first album, Up All Night debuted in the U.S. at number 1 it made them the first British group in the US chart history to become number one with just their first album. Their album also became #1 in 15 different countries. They were setting records in a matter of days.

When these boys became the first British group to be at #1 in the US top charts, they receive recognition in the Guinness World Book of Records 2013. The boys could not be anymore appreciative for this honor. For others to look at what they have accomplished opens their eyes to new things and they only want to keep going. From sold out tours, numerous hotel stays and always being far from home the boys have never lost sight of what has always been important to them. Their family, friends and fans always keep these boys grounded and they never take advantage of that.

With so many accomplishments it is almost too much for someone to count how many awards they have won and keep winning. Just within this past year, they have won a Brit Award, 2 Kid’s Choice Awards and 3 VMAs. Not only do the awards show their fans dedication but having sold out tours all the way to August 2013! These 5 boys never fail to always put a smile on anyone’s face.

There is no doubt that these 5 boys are talented. Although they came in third on The X Factor U.K., it did not stop them from giving up on their dreams. With a new album coming out and a new world tour this is not yet the end for One Direction but only the beginning. These world record holders let nothing negative stop them; they wait and see what the future holds for them with a positive mindset. This is one boy band that will go down in history.

Hey Sara, I found your weekly paper very interesting. You added some interesting facts about One Direction which I did not know of. I personally am not a big fan of the boy band, but after reading this I might just start listening to them a little more. I believe you did a great job with this, keep up the good work.

Sara, I really enjoyed reading your article because although I wasn’t really a huge fan of boy bands until I started working at a little kids’ store i’ve learned to like them. I really like the way you organized your article and now I know more about boy bands, so thank you for that! 🙂
